this space

I admire this creative studio space in New York where amazing work is done with flowers and foliage.
The rustic timber and the exposed brick walls. The huge open spaces lit up with natural light.  So beautiful. You can find many more inspiring photographs here and here. I have mentioned this multi-talented florist several times before and here you can find wonderful photos of when she worked from home before she had her dreamy flower studio.

I sincerely enjoy seeing the comfortable and productive spaces folks create for themselves.

the jeweler

BRVTVS the recent Makers feature. Have a look at the pretty pictures from around her studio, her space where she creates.  I have a thing for peoples' creative spaces. They make me happy.

I like it...

found here

There is so much about this bohemian room that I like.  The pallets used for the couch/daybed. The stump as a coffee table. The plaster textured walls.  But mostly in this room I am inspired by the lamp shade cage decorated with moss and branches and suspended from the ceiling.  My mom has a few of these around with a great natural weathered/aged patina. This is something I would like to try because I like it...

their spell

feathers, antlers, fur, leather, turquoise, shell, crystals, random glass jars... for body and home
>>> found here <<<

Their collective stylings and their documentation of what arouses their own interests is thoroughly inspiring. Interestingly, sisters living and creating down under in Byron Bay, Australia find intrigue in many Native American adornments and the wild west in general.  I find a deeper appreciation for what more closely surrounds me in my homeland through the free spirit of these overseas soul sisters. Their passion for what they do and the natural indigenous beauty it exudes is spellbinding.  I have mentioned them before here and here while I am quite certain I will be driven to mention them again. In joy!

joinery

I would love to have a lil' boutique like this one day...one day!  Our very own mercantile!  I believe my fine lady friends and I are already in the process in our very own unconventional roundabout way.  We are on our way...we are on our way!

I especially like the moss and tumbleweed display accents and the burnt shou-sugi-ban technique she applies to the wood, like on the ceiling and some of the display surface tops. You can read and see more about this Brooklyn boutique here and here.

bespoke

bespoke |biˈspōk|
adjective [ attrib. ] chiefly Brit.
(of goods, esp. clothing) made to order
(of a trader) making such goods

To be honest, I had no idea of this word or its meaning. It's a good one. I like it. A lot!

"a loft filled with bespoke pieces".  I like this space but I am most attracted to the rustic oversized headboard affect they have going on there.  Found in Anthology Magazine handmade at home you can find it here.

simple + old + alive

I love everything about this photo found here via here and you can find even more beautifully simple photography here

Reminding me how much I appreciate the beauty of the simple, the old and house plants inside random found and collected containers.  Refreshing my excitement for my very own collection of age old somethings.

grounded luxury

What a beautiful home!  I love the set up and location for her small family of farm animals and added little touches of decoration that create such a charming environment. And how sweet is that rustic attractive space those sweet critters have to call home, it even has curtains.  I also adore the antler chair, moss covered table setting pictured above and that sunroom!!!

Find more pictures of this luxurious yet grounded home here at the selby.

house plants & good advice

This Brooklyn couple, is more than a jewelry designer and a photographer...
“I think both of us and our generation have been brought up in a consumer society and we are only just now, at our age realizing that it doesn’t have to be that way. You can have good things in life without having a lot of money, or be constantly buying. And that is what happening now.”
More of their interview and pictures of their lovely home found here via here

This Brooklyn loft is a nice, comfy, intimate, lived in space.  Probably not a very big space and it has all that one (or two) might need with office and studio space too.  I love all the house plants and how they are placed just so throughout!

I recommend reading the interview it has little bits of some pretty good advice! Especially for those of us that may have a passion for doing things a little bit differently, that sometimes feels like its going against what has been taught by the masses of society. A few simple opinions that just may help you feel like you are on the right track and put a gentle smile on your face.

welcoming a new month

let the light shine in...
collections of antique lace, ethnic and folk textiles
what a great repurpose
crazy for quilts
I am attracted to this wall color lately

all and more found here

I love a home with lots of natural light and who would not love a swing inside

and on another note...

beautiful words of wisdom I would like to hold onto ...thanks Liane
"but like most things worth a damn, figuring out the how and why is a process over time and it is truly a privilege.  when something is difficult i want to stop looking upon it as unfair.  it's an opportunity to think more deeply and challenge myself."
