land

Two of my greatest friends are proud owners of their own piece of heaven. Raw land. To do with what their dreams determine.  Lets just say it hasn't all been easy but they are in fact making their dreams come true.  My heart smiles with the idea of it all.

They are left with a very limited budget to build their alternative living space and I am excited to see them do great things. Recycling and using what is available to conquer the American Dream in the most unconventional ways. Pulling together resources where they can. Putting supplies to good use that may otherwise just be waisted or thrown away. I think we will be amazed yet again by the beauty one can accomplish using what we have where we can.

Stay tuned for updates along the way as they get to work on building their truly handmade dwelling.

sweet friends

I spent a beautiful autumn Sunday morning with some great friends. Friends for the whole family.  I was about as pregnant for Sage as she is now for her second baby boy when we spent a summer living in a tent on their new undeveloped land in California.  Her sweet family is just another reason we need to make a trip out west real soon to visit and see all the progress they have made to their magical land in the Sierra Nevada foothills.  Their not sleeping under the stars and cooking over open fires any longer. They have made so much amazing progress.

The boys play so sweetly (mostly).  It was a pleasure to capture their blossoming friendship.

I was especially happy to catch that precious moment of brotherly love. His baby brother isn't even born yet and he already has so much love for him. So beautiful, SO SWEET!

fall returns

As we settle into our school year routine, the air cools and the leaves begin to slowly fall I am slowly getting back to work in the studio.  I have many new ideas to create like rag braid wrap bracelets, comfy, organic palazzo pants and vine wrapped dream catchers among others.  I have a new collection of beautiful rocks and crystals waiting to be something beautiful and worn to make someone feel beautiful.  I am working on my TRI.bal collection for f/w. Copper diamonds with crystal points, pyrite and leather remnants.  A variety of TRIangles to adorn the ear.
I also have several curtain panels to complete. My part in helping to make some of my dearest friends brand new house a home.  Its a brand new house to them but its an authentic Acadian style home thats been around for generations. They have brought it back to life in their own way and after months of preparation they are moving in this week.  I am so happy for them and I happy for me that they will be so close now.
A current project I am excited about...a much needed purge. I will successfully clean my closet space (home+studio). This is a project that feels like it lives on forever but this time I want to make an impressive dent in all this stuff. There are so many things I have held onto for way to long and I am finally ready to discard much of it.  Lighten the load and organize the chaos.  The little I have done so far feels so good.  I am thinking of a closet sale...like a $1 a piece?!

Lets not forget the important shop update I need/want to do so badly.  I will set aside the consuming time to photograph, edit and upload that overwhelming overflow of creations waiting for a home.

HAPPY EARLY FALL YA'LL!

beekeeping at the camp

faces of approval...this honey is mmm mmm good

We shared our very first beekeeping experience and it went well.  No bee stings until the very end. When all was said and done my hubby returned the box with the honey drained frames and when he came back to camp he apparently brought a couple of bees with him. One did get my mom and it seemed to hurt her real bad for a good 10 minutes or so.

I wasn't much help with the honey harvest but it was enjoyable to watch closely and to see the kids experience such a moment. I basically snapped pictures (many obviously) and hung with my kiddos. All in all it went rather quickly and was not as difficult as we had unknowingly anticipated.  We smoked them with pine needles and sage which apparently works like a sort of sedative.  Our bees were pretty calm which was nice.  My hubby did most of the work, front and center, with great help from some great friends whom had done this sorta thing before.  It was a pleasure to have their experience on board.  They helped move things along smoothly, flawlessly and painlessly (mostly).
